‘Of what use is a birthright to me?’ ~ Genesis 25:32b

I can’t say that I am surprised.  I expected the ‘leaders’ of the so-called Religious Right to place party above principle–the drive in that direction has been gathering steam for years.  Still, I didn’t expect Pat Robertson to pull the trigger so early in the election with his endorsement of Rudy Giuliani.

Over the years, I found it difficult to take Robertson seriously (and I once was a card-carrying member of the Christian Coalition!).  His television claims of ‘words of knowledge’ and personal revelations from God were enough to give me pause and his claim of being able to leg press 2,000 pounds was indeed difficult to swallow.  (The world record is 1,335 pounds by a Florida State football player.)  However, this latest compromise of the biblically-based principles he has paid lip service to over the years has caused him to lose all credibility as far as I am concerned.

Robertson–and many, many Christians within the Republican/ Conservative spheres–have shown their true allegiance to be to pragmatism, rather than principle.  In the fanatical Beat-Hillary-At-All-Costs frenzy, they have lost their way.  One has to ask: What is the difference between Hillary!© and Rudy?  Although the latter is fiscally conservative, they both support abortion rights, the homosexual agenda, will continue the senseless war policies of George W. Bush.  (Of course, that is the most popular agenda item among evangelicals to-day, I am sad to say.)  One is really as ‘good’ as the other.  So what, I ask in a high degree of incredulity, is the difference?

This election is exposing a lot of folks for who/ what they really are.

Ron Paul beat Rudy in his own back yard!  See the New York Straw Poll results here.

A man has written a play called ‘Liberating Jesus’, in which he offers to ‘enlighten’ us as to the real message of the Messiah.  (Get your tickets now!)  The Creator of the Universe does not need anyone’s assistance–nor ‘liberation’.  So, as you can imagine, I won’t be rushing out to see the ‘performance.’

Here’s a quote from the playright regarding how the play was ‘revealed’ to him: ‘Then all of a sudden, I found myself transported through time into another dimension.  Somehow, I was on the cross, experiencing the crucifixion in great detail.  It was as if I was looking through the eyes of Jesus, hearing all the sounds and feeling all the feelings involved in that experience.  I experienced the physical pain of the crucifixion and I experienced that terrible moment when he cried out to God, “Why hast Thou forsaken me?”‘

Do you ever wonder what cable television may be like if you didn’t have to subsidise the trash channels you don’t want and could pick and choose those you like?

I thought Fox News was the ‘conservative’ news source?
