‘Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.’  ~ Acts 17:29

The man who coined the term dishes out some advice on how to successfully blog (via La Vie Quotidienne).

It seems that some Aussies are upset by a television commercial that flippantly uses the Nativity to feed their commercialism jones.  Likewise, some folks in Florida are up in arms at the prospect of being banned from fashioning the Creator of the Universe into a plastic baby for shoppers to gawk at. Perhaps they could gain from the collective, godly wisdom of the Westminster Divines:

Q. 109. What are the sins forbidden in the second commandment?

A. The sins forbidden in the second commandment are … the making any representation of God, of all or of any of the three persons, either inwardly in our mind, or outwardly in any kind of image or likeness of any creature whatsoever…’  (Westminster Larger Catechism)

‘Just like on other days of the year, at Christ-mas time there will be Christians who perish in the death camps of North Korea.’

‘Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country.
~ Ronald Reagan

‘Just as there are in a military camp separate lines for each platoon and section, men are placed on the earth so that each nation may be content with its own boundaries. [In this manner,] God, by his providence reduces to order that which is confused.’ ~ John Calvin

The economic losses are gigantic and will grow. The trickle of bad news is going to become a flood over the next year. It will wear down the resistance of perma-bulls, who believe that the Federal Reserve can save the day and save the stock market. All over the world, the repercussions of bad loans, carry-trade leverage, and relatively tight money are going to be felt.’

From Military Veterans for Ron Paul:

In an effort to buoy Mitt Romney’s rapidly sinking candidacy, the LDS (Mormons) have responded to ‘21 Questions About the Mormon Faith.’  I use the word ‘responded’ because they certainly didn’t provide answers—not forthcoming ones, anyway.  Their responses were disingenuous (they are not Trinitarians, yet they worded their responses so as to imply they are) and they simply repeated the same, non-committal, vague responses to several questions.

For an accurate understanding of exactly what it is the LDS believe, I would suggest a series of lectures by Dr Phil Fernandez of the Institute of Biblical Defence entitled, ‘Advanced Cults.’  They are very informative and engaging; I highly recommend them as a valuable resource.

‘These [the junior and senior leadership of the Nazi party] were concerned with more than power; many were out for more than advantages.  They wanted their life to have a new meaning, their existence in society a purpose; their value for their own people was the one thing that gave their careers on earth any value.  To many, and not always the worst among them, only faith in their fatherland had retained any meaning, their own nation had become God; if they hesitated openly to declare themselves religious unbelievers, Hitler had provided them with a suitable formula: “We know two Gods: one in heaven and another on earth; the second is Germany.”  But “we” are Germany, Hitler had said on another occasion, and “we” meant “I.”  And so there were people who prayed to Hitler, perhaps without realising it was prayer.’  ~ Konrad Heiden, Der Fuhrer: Hitler’s Rise to Power

Returning control of education to parents is the centerpiece of my education agenda. As President I will advance tax credits through the Family Education Freedom Act, which reduces taxes to make it easier for parents to home school by allowing them to devote more of their own funds to their children’s education.’ ~ Ron Paul

Rick Saenz discusses Google’s answer to Wikipedia which, hopefully, will address many of the latter’s shortcomings.

You mean Rudy’s not inevitable?  Uh-oh.

Buttercup:  ‘Wesley, what about the R.O.U.S.’s?’

Wesley:  ‘Rodents of Unusual Size?  I don’t think they exist.’

~ The Princess Bride
