‘A full and fair weight you shall have, a full and fair measure you shall have, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.’  ~ Deuteronomy 25:15

  • A [Yuba Community College] campus police officer came over and told him that if he continued to [preach the Gospel on campus] without a permit that he would be possibly expelled or arrested, and so Ryan stopped immediately.’

  • Max Mitchell insists that he was divinely inspired to write a ‘new’ version of the Bible, which he is naming after Princess Diana. He asserts that ‘Jesus was gay. In Biblical times homosexual relationships were so commonplace that no one gave it a second thought. It was heterosexuality that was considered sinful.’  This sort of thing should not surprise us when Christians have been satisfied to simply ‘have a place at the table’ rather than assert Christ as King.

  • Dr. Paul – he’s a physician – never had a chance, of course. He is too peculiar in his opinions and doesn’t know how to spin like a TV slick. What he had was ideas, integrity and authenticity. On the most critical challenges facing America, Dr. Paul was more right than the well-funded GOP regulars who bigfooted the campaign trail.’

  • I had a conversation recently with some friends and the question arose regarding whether Capitalism should—or even could—be tempered by Christian ethics. I believe firmly that unfettered Capitalism is anti-Christian, that justice and morality must be tied to our economic activity or else is quickly becomes immoral. Making money is surely acceptable; making a great deal of money is also permissible—but not when it is done at the expense of others. R. J. Rushdoony discussed economic justice in his ‘Systematic Theology’:

A man, when free from the corruption of modern humanism, will work in terms of God’s calling, and, under God, for his family, for the personal realization of his abilities, and more. These are essentially non-economic motives. Economies self-destruct when their motivating forces become essentially economic.’

  • I have often wondered what would happen if u.S. troops were ordered to fire on their own people. We may soon find out.

  • Thanks in no small measure to the energy that Ron Paul’s candidacy unleashed, more people than ever are eager to cut through the propaganda and uncover the truth. But where to start? And how can you get the most out of the time you have to devote to reading and study?’

  • The current CVC [Capitol Visitors Centre] displays are left-leaning and in some cases distort our true history. Exhibits portray the federal government as the fulfillment of human ambition and the answer to all of society’s problems. This is a clear departure from acknowledging that Americans’ rights “are endowed by their Creator” and stem from “a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.”’  [Are we really surprised by this? –ed.]

  • For those who still think They Hate Us for Our Freedom©, consider these words from a former u.S. interrogator in Iraq: ‘It’s no exaggeration to say that at least half of our losses and casualties in that country have come at the hands of foreigners who joined the fray because of our program of detainee abuse.’

I have no doubt that one day (many?) years from now, my face wrinkled with age and my beard grey from a life lived well, that I’ll look back on Westminster Presbyterian Church–the church in which I sat with my wife, where my children were baptised and (Lord willing) called to a saving faith, and where my family and friends will one day weep over my body–with nostalgia and affection for those with whom I worshiped the true, living God as the decades rolled.  Such thoughts make the following song so poignant: ‘The Old Country Church’ by the Oak Ridge Boys.
