‘For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.’  ~ II Corinthians 2:12

The net effect of the recent surge in household debt is therefore to throw entire populations into financial dependency. The moral implications are clear. Towering debts are incompatible with financial self-reliance and thus they tend to weaken self-reliance also in all other spheres. The debt-ridden individual eventually adopts the habit of turning to others for help, rather than maturing into an economic and moral anchor of his family, and of his wider community. Wishful thinking and submissiveness replace soberness and independent judgement. And what about the many cases in which families can no longer shoulder the debt load? Then the result is either despair or, on the contrary, scorn for all standards of financial sanity.’ ~ Jörg Guido Hülsmann, The Cultural and Spiritual Legacy of Fiat Inflation

  • A book that was stolen from Washington College’s library by a Yankee invader 145 years ago has finally been returned to the university.

  • ‘Bad as they were, however, the Alien and Sedition Acts were only outward symptoms of a more dreaded disease, Hamiltonian Federalism, and its efforts underway since 1791 to Anglicize government in America and transform it from a republic to a monarchy patterned after the corrupt model of England. First there was the Hamiltonian fiscal system, that engine of oppression, with its paper money, debt, and patronage. Next came the threat of a standing army. . .

President Obama’s toughest press conference to date:

The fact that President Obama, a (a-hem) professing Christian, had an image symbolising Jesus’ name obscured during a speech at Georgetown University is not, quite frankly, surprising to anyone who actually judges people by what they do and not merely by what they say. What is disturbing, however, is that Georgetown agreed with his request. I have long lamented that our society—including Christians—has deified the government in general and the presidency in specific. Now, it appears that we are prepared to allow the President to supplant the King of Kings altogether.

If we can’t take a stand against something such as this, what will be the response if and when we are commanded to bow down and worship the President or his image?

One of the best garage band songs of all time:

At least one country has come to the conclusion—if begrudgingly so—that you cannot print yourself into prosperity:

Zimbabwe’s new coalition Government has decided to withdraw the country’s worthless currency from circulation for at least a year and rely exclusively on other hard currencies.’

Hopefully, the Powers That Be in the U.S. will come to a similar realisation. (We are not hopeful, however.)

‘For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions…’  ~ II Timothy 4:3

  • You have been told that God is a loving, gracious, merciful, kind, compassionate, wonderful, and good sky fairy who runs a day care in the sky and has a bucket of suckers for everyone because we’re all good people. That is a lie… God looks down and says “I hate you, you are my enemy, and I will crush you,” and we say that is deserved, right and just. And then God says “Because of Jesus I will love you and forgive you.”’ ~ Pastor Mark Driscoll

The mother of two, cries, “The things that we buy – the groceries at home, the things we get for our two children – we have to buy immediately, as soon as we get the money.”

Why?

She followed up with, “We know that if we wait a bit, the prices are going to go up again. If we wait another week, we will not be able to afford anything. People are taking the money out in suitcases or carrier bags.”

Think this type of inflation couldn’t happen in the U.S? Think again.

Everything that can be invented has been invented.’ ~ Charles H. Duell, the Commissioner of the United States Patent Office, 1899

  • The Duggars—parents to 18 children—are preparing to welcome their first grandchild into the world.

A Washington, DC, pastor and outspoken opponent of same-sex “marriage” says California mega-church pastor Rick Warren has done “tremendous damage” by apologizing for his support last fall of California’s marriage protection amendment.

Rick Warren said Monday on CNN’s Larry King Live that he has “never been and never will be” an “anti-gay marriage activist,” and made a point to inform the program’s host that he apologized to his homosexual friends for comments he made in October to his church in support of Proposition 8 in California.

Governor Perry Takes a Stand

with 4 comments

I have been wondering for years when our State leaders were going to finally–FINALLY–stand in the breach and protect our interests as Texans from the increasing interference by the Federal Leviathan.  The Texas State Legislature has taken up the task and, I say, it is none too soon.

Hoo-rah!

  • Why did we not read about that depression [of 1920-21]? Because the much-maligned Warren Harding refused to intervene. He let businesses and banks fail and prices fall. Hence, the fever quickly broke, and we were off into “the Roaring Twenties.”’

  • More than 100,000 Britons have recently downloaded “certificates of de-baptism” from the Internet to renounce their Christian faith.  Michael Evans, 66, branded baptising children as “a form of child abuse” — and said that when he complained to the church where he was christened he was told to contact the European Court of Human Rights.
